Autumn Apple Sangria

fall cocktails autumn apple sangria
Sangria is a drink usually associated with celebrating summer, but with a little seasonal tweak, you can enjoy it right into the fall. Apples and cinnamon play nice with red wine, and this Autumn Apple Sangria is so easy it would make a great holiday drink to serve a crowd (think Thanksgiving! Halloween party!). This recipe calls for Spiced Pear Simple Syrup, and you can find that recipe here. Making this ahead and having it ready makes these cocktails easy to assemble and gives a great flavor with not much additional work.

Choose a fruity, full-bodied red wine (I chose a Cabernet, but a Merlot or Zinfandel will work well) and use seasonal fruits like fresh apple slices, grapes and plums. Your Spiced Pear Simple Syrup will impart all the flavors of fall, plus a little sweetness and lots of spice. Make sure each glass gets plenty of fruit and ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick for added aroma and holiday flair.
